Losing a Few Pounds for Summer

We all know the feeling: Making promises to ourselves all Winter and Early Spring of what we’ll do to get lost just the couple of pounds we need to be confident when the weather heats up and the layers come off. Then, it’s June before you know it, and you weigh barely less than you did after eating turkey and potatoes for ten days straight in November. Your window of opportunity to be spending time confident in your body at the beach, a neighborhood pool, or even out on a run is shrinking, and fast. So how do you lose just a few pounds for the summer months? Consuming mangosteen, a super fruit indigenous to parts of Southeast Asia, might just do the trick. Rich in antioxidants, it works by aiding in digestion, making you feel fuller longer, and boosting the metabolism. Mangosteen is thought to improve digestion by slightly altering the pH of the contents of the stomach and upper small intestines, making conditions ideal for the growth of beneficial probiotic organisms further down the line. Good nutrients are more easily absorbed, and bag, processed, ones are greatly inhibited. This keeps toxins from entering the body that inhibit weight loss, leaving you feeling better, and at a significant advantage when trying to lose weight. Mangosteen is rich in fiber. Fiber is indigestible and serves no actual nutritive purpose in our bodies. It does, however, take up room in the stomach, making you feel full on food from which you’ll actually absorb little-to-no calories. If you get full on fiber, you’re less likely to get full on high-calorie junk foods, and much more likely to lose weight. Fiber also makes food move faster through the digestive system. In effect, you’ll experience more frequent, healthy, bowel movements. Food won’t be allowed to stick around in your lower intestines long enough...

Relieving Sore Muscles

Sore muscles can make even the easiest of tasks seem impossible. Moving from sitting to standing position or attempting to take a step can feel excruciating. Every movement is painful and relief cannot come soon enough. Let’s start by first understanding how the soreness develops, then how to relieve the soreness can be understood. The fascia, the soft connective tissue right underneath the skin’s surface, and muscle tissue are called the myofascia system. The system is where the soreness occurs. The soreness develops as a result of injury, inadequate stretching, or not being used enough, the fascia and the surrounding muscle tissue joins. The joining or adhesion of the muscle tissue restricts the muscles ability to move. As a result, this causes pain and soreness along with the ability to move the muscles freely. If you decided to visit a medical professional, he/she would apply continuous gentle pressure to the soft tissue and, at the same time, a tight traction around the fascia. The purpose is to soften and elongate the fascia. The pressure will also reduce the scar tissue or adhesions surrounding the muscles, bones, and skin. While this is a viable choice to relieve the soreness in your muscles, it could result in a costly bill to achieve. There is a way to ease those sore muscles in a safe and healthy manner because health is important. You do not want to do anything that will further damage your muscles or cause any more pain. A muscle roller can be the only thing standing between you and relief from the soreness your muscles are experiencing. A muscle roller will provide you with the experience and benefits of an expensive sports massage and cost a lot less in the process. The roller will stretch the sore muscles and tendons. While the rolling maneuver is stretching those muscles, it...

Tips for Excellent Dental Care

One of the first things a person notices upon meeting someone is their face, but more specifically, their teeth. Having a healthy smile is important in your everyday life for many reasons. Doing your part to ensure healthy gums and teeth can help to prevent other diseases elsewhere in the body, such as heart disease and stroke. A simple, but consistent routine for your dental care will alleviate many of these problems, but it will keep your smile fresh and clean, too. It is of the utmost importance that we do what we can for our dental health at home, before we visit the dentist. To have healthier teeth and gums, we should make sure that we brush our teeth at least two times a day. Morning and night are preferable, but you can brush after each meal if necessary. Brushing should be performed in a circular motion and should be done on the outside, inside, and surface of the teeth. Also, be sure to get the teeth all the way in the back. In addition to brushing, we should floss our teeth at least once per day, or after each meal, too. Always make sure that you get all the way down to the gum between each tooth, and behind the ones at the back. There are fluoride rinses available in drug stores to help strengthen teeth, and can be done once daily after brushing and flossing. These are different from basic mouthwashes, which only kill odor causing bacteria to freshen breath, but there are products available to perform both functions. Dentists can assist in finding or teaching the patient how to prevent gum disease and oral cancer, in turn, preventing patients from the loss of permanent teeth. Visiting the dental office twice per year lowers the risk of the patient developing dental emergencies by detecting problems before...

Benefits Of Going To A Spa

A spa is a great place to really relax and just enjoy some time to yourself. In this fast paced world where you spend more time at work than you do at home or with family and friends, a spa works wonders to truly let you relieve your stress. Here are a few benefits of going to a wellness spa: Getting away from it all This is one of the best reasons to go to the spa. It gives you the chance to get away from your stressful situation or busy schedule and just relax. You’ll be able to take in some time for yourself and breathe. It’s always good to try and get away from it all at least once a month. Even if it’s for a few hours, you deserve to enjoy your life. You can take it slow and allow yourself to be all calm and get back in tune with your body. Decrease soreness and even blood circulation This is another great thing about spas. If you are going through too much stress, it definitely carries through your body especially your neck, your shoulders and back. A great massage helps to relieve tension in these areas and it allows your body to increase blood flow. You’ll feel a lot better because there isn’t so much lactic acid built up in specific areas causing you pain. Good for your skin There are a lot of toxins built up over time due to stress and the general air we breathe. This has a great impact on our skin because the pores become clogged with oil and bacteria which deteriorates in the natural skin glow. A great facial will help deep clean the skin and encourage new skin cells to form. This will create more radiance to the skin and a healthier cleanse. You’ll feel a lot better...

How to Make the Most of Your Cardio Workout

Cardio Vascular exercise is an activity that involves light, moderate, or high intensity activities that should increase your heart rate. There are many different ways to perform a cardio routine. Whether through conventional manners; treadmill, bike, cross trainer and our favourite the versa climber which is in our opinion one of the best and hardest cardio machines. There are also crazy cardio workouts and circuit training. You can perform these cardio routines by two of the most common types; high intensity interval workouts and steady workouts. High intensity interval training is great for weight loss while steady workouts are ideal for maintaining your wellbeing. It is better to incorporate both types of training in your routine, I would suggest 2 days a week of high intensity and 1 day a week of steady. I am sure there are many body builders or people who perform a lot of resistance training to increase lean tissue do not like to do cardio due to their concern of muscle loss. However cardio is an essential part of training and assists losing excess body fat or “to be lean”, so many people cut out carboyhdrates to create the “lean look” that they are all seeking but this is not healthy and can cause long term problems, there have been studies to show that diet can have a great impact on your skin and if you do not eat enough carboyhdrates or good fats, your skin and overall health will be at risk. In our opinion the most healthiest way to maintain a “lean look” would be to engage in steady state cardio and not high intensity, where you can maintain your muscle mass while reducing excess body fat. Here is a quick summary of what the two different types of training entail; Interval Training: Bursts of high energy training which are then followed...
